Postgraduate taught funding - Scottish students

Full-time tuition fee loans

If you'reÌýa Scottish student planning to study for your first full-time postgraduate qualification, you can get tuition fee fundingÌýfromÌýthe

Part-time tuition fee loans

If you're a part-time Scottish student,Ìýyou can apply forÌýa SAAS loan.ÌýFor a part-time programme to qualify for SAAS funding, it must be noÌýmore than twice the length of the equivalent full-time course.

Living costs loans

ScottishÌýpostgraduate studentsÌýcan also apply for a postgraduateÌýliving cost loan of up to £4,500.Ìý

When to apply

The SAAS postgraduate funding application deadlines are:

  • 1 August for courses that start between 1 August and 31 December

  • 1 January for courses that start between 1 January and 31 March

  • 1 April for courses that start between 1 April and 30 June

  • 1 July for courses that start between 1 July and 31 July

Tuition fee and living costs loans

If you're a studentÌýliving inÌýEngland, Wales or Northern Ireland, then youÌýcan apply for aÌýpostgraduate loan to cover yourÌýtuition feesÌýand living costs.Ìý

Postgraduate taught funding - EU & ÓÈÎïÊÓÆµ students

If you're an EU or international student, you're expected to have sufficient funds available to cover your postgraduate tuition fees before the start of each academic year. You need to pay the whole annual fee in advance. You pay your fees during the online registration process.Ìý

There is a 20% Alumni discount on tuition fees for self-funding students who are progressing from:

  • Undergraduate to postgraduate taught

  • Undergraduate to postgraduate research

  • Postgraduate taught to postgraduate research

Takahashi & Howat Memorial Overseas Scholarship

An award for Japanese students studying at Masters level. Two scholarship awards are offered per year to the value of 300,000 JPY. Find out if you are eligible and how to apply.
