Making Positive Change to Female Protagonists in Videogames

Synopsis

My project has been designed to address the issues of female representation in video games. It combats the stigmas within the industry, and in society for that matter. I have created characters that I genuinely care about and hope they resonate with an audience on a personal level. Centring this project around representation is important as it gives the opportunity to discuss the fallout effect of underrepresentation and misrepresentation in gaming communities. The misogyny in gaming communities and volatile sexism only grows when videogame designers blatantly refuse to address their problematic designs, or histories. Bringing light to issues enforces change.

Making Positive Change to Female Protagonists in Videogames

My project is built on making positive change to female representation within videogames. I've designed diverse female leads that aim to appeal to a younger audience.

Motivation

I want to create a space for more young women and girls to feel represented in videogames. Positive depictions of females in games mean a lot to me, and I want to provide empowering female protagonists in games.
